Remain Silent

You have the right to remain silent and that right is one that you should use after an arrest. There is probably a lot that you want to say, especially if you’re unhappy and upset about the arrest. But doing so only causes things to become worse for you when your day in court arrives. Don’t risk this and stay quiet; it is your right, after all.

Be Respectful

Be respectful to the officers, even the officer who placed you under arrest. Upon arrival at the jail, be polite and courteous to all of the correctional officers and staff on duty, especially the magistrate who will set your bond shortly after your arrest.
